If you want to lose weight in the long term, the best way to do it is to make long-term lifestyle changes that you can sustain.
However, there are occasions like summer coming up in a few weeks or your wedding day approaching fast, and you want to look your best. You need to get the weight off quickly, and you want to know how to do it safely.
Cut The Carbs
One lifestyle change that you can do at once is to eat many veggies. Vegetables are full of fiber and packed with nutrients with meager calories.
Non-starchy veggies also have a high water content, they fill you up and hydrate you at the same time. A great two-way punch for weight loss.
Starchy veggies like potatoes and whole wheat bread are recommended to be eaten in moderation. They provide fiber, nutrients and healthy carbs.
Take note that high carb foods will not help in losing water weight. Excess carbs in the body get stored with water. It is better to eat non-starchy veggies because they provide fiber without the water retention.
A week before your event, you can remove carbs from your diet and swap them with non-starchy veggies to lose some water weight.
Eat more peppers, asparagus, cauliflower, broccoli, mushrooms, spinach, kale, and cucumbers. This will also improve your overall health and not just aid in weight loss.
Go Low On Salt
Another change in lifestyle that will make you look better is cutting back on your sodium intake. Salt causes your body to retain excess water, a high sodium diet means you are storing more water weight than you need.

Water promotes proper digestion so you won’t end up bloated after a meal. Eight to twelve glasses a day is ideal for weight loss.
Get rid of sugary drinks like soda, juice, sweetened coffee and tea. Adding lemon or herbs to your water will give that added flavor and health benefits.
Avoid Gas Forming Foods
Quick weight loss can be achieved by eliminating bloating in your body. Avoiding gas forming foods leading up to your event is a good idea.
Chewing gum makes you swallow air that gets trapped in you, making you feel bloated. Some gums also contain sugar alcohols which can cause gas in some people.
Sodas have gas forming sugars, and they are carbonated. The bubbles trapped in the liquid can make you bloated.
People digest gas forming foods differently, but there are foods that you should avoid if you want to lose weight fast.
Beans and veggies like cabbage, Brussel sprouts, cauliflower, and broccoli should be avoided for a few days if you want to look slimmer. Lean proteins like fish or chicken paired with non-gassy veggies like spinach, asparagus, and cucumber can prevent bloating before your big day.
